It was very difficult to prepare because of Corona 19, but I am happy to be able to proceed on schedule.
This event, which will show more than 120 works by participating in more than 80 woodcut artists from Korea, France, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Taiwan, and Thailand, is a prelude to the second Ulsan Biennale next year.??
[Words of greetings]
Hello?
We are holding the 8th Ulsan International Woodcut Print Art Festival this year . I would like to thank all the people who spared no efforts to prepare this event in this dif?cult time including President of the Ulsan Jeil Ilbo Lim Chae-il and those in the culture and art ?elds.
The 8th Ulsan International Woodcut Print Art Festival with the theme ‘Nature, Human and Ulsan’ displays works of over 100 woodcut print artists from Korea, France, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Taiwan and Thailand.  I hope all of you will have some comfort in your body and soul tired from the global pandemic by having an opportunity to appreciate the world best woodcut print art in one spot. Last summer , we successfully accomplished the ?rst International Woodcut Print Biennale with the participation of over 100 artists from 11 countries as ‘recommendation type contest exhibit’. This was a moment to initiate holding biennale, which was long-cherished desire of Ulsan. Even though the size of the event was not that big, we felt ful?lled with the pride that it was the ?rst biennale held in Ulsan after medium and long-term plan, which led to the smooth preparation for the 8th Ulsan International Woodcut Print Art Festival in spite of all dif?culties. We believe this energy will be transferred to the next biennale in 2021.
The Ulsan International Woodcut Print Art Festival has presented over 800 pieces of diverse and high quality woodcut print art from over 20 countries and played a role not only in satisfying artistic desire of art lovers and Ulsan citizens but also in upgrading the culture and art of Ulsan. Therefore, I can con?dently say that Ulsan International Woodcut Print Art Festival represents art of Ulsan. The passion of woodcut print artists from various countries was expressed as diversity of each country’s history and regional characteristics. We will try our best to connect ‘Nature, Human and Ulsan’ through Ulsan International Woodcut Print Art Festival and Biennale, and furthermore, to make these events be the center of global woodcut print art. I hope art lovers and Ulsan citizens will have great time by participating in various experience events while enjoying the world best woodcut print art works.
Thank you.
Steering Committee Chairman of Ulsan International Woodcut Print Art Festival.   Kim Dongin
